Why Choose Us?

•    We are small; Remote Tours is a company initially started by two brothers Reg and Chris Ramsden, who now have a crew of carefully selected guides working together to make Remote Tours happen.

•    We are the only tour company that offers the opportunity to stay in an authentic Aboriginal community experiencing their daily life; as well as visiting the usual touring sites of the red centre.

•    All of our tour guides are highly qualified, experienced and reputable employees who began working with us after discovering they share our passion and vision to educate students about aboriginal culture.  As well as having extensive knowledge of the area, our guides also have the relevant qualifications to work with children and hold senior level first aid certificates.

•    Our tours are all inclusive; meals, camping fees, national park tickets, swags and tents, camping equipment, community fees, project materials, arts and crafts, bus and trailer and tour guide. We also supply a list of things to bring to make it easier on you.

•    Over the years Reg has built many close relationships with Aboriginal Elders from various communities in the Territory. One example is at the community close to the Kings Canyon Resort called Lilla. Remote Tours have recently been running school group tours in the red centre that incorporate students visiting Lilla and participating in community work that will hopefully assist the community in becoming economically sustainable. In return for their hard work the students get to learn traditional methods of gathering bush tucker, dot painting and jewellery making from the indigenous elders.

•    Remote Tours is an educationally based, culturally aware tour company, with a strong emphasis on interaction with the Aboriginal people; mingled with fun, to ensure a trip you will never forget. By working closely for many years, with the custodians of the land, we have developed a unique, knowledgeable and sensitive approach to the country travelled and are proud to be able to claim a reputation that brings our patrons back for more, year after year. We are also proud to be chosen by the indigenous people of the land to help promote our program of bringing city children to experience and reconnect with their mother-land.

•    Remote Tours believes every Australian child should visit the heart of Australia, Uluru, the sacred red rock, and witness for themselves the real situation regarding Aboriginal communities.   We find that most students are under the mistaken perception that the indigenous people are going to be out hunting and dancing around naked in the bush. This new generation of Australian youths should see for themselves how things really stand, and so be able to empathise as well as learn our indigenous  people.

•    Everyone who works for Remote Tours has been a guide and we all know just how rushed tour itineraries are. Remote Tours have adopted a flexible and relaxed approach to touring, not just for the customers but also to look after our team. Customers can choose their own itinerary or Remote Tours will help you create one, leaving time to reflect, rest, explore places that other companies do not have the time to go.

•    Remote Tours is small enough to still look at the individual needs of our customers, thus we can very easily meet reasonable requests or alterations to itineraries.

•    A lot of attention is given to food and providing quality meals. Remote Tours use a variety of recipes and source good quality products, as opposed to simply choosing economy brands to save money.  Fresh fruit and Vegetables are purchased the day before tour commences, with meat sourced from a local Alice butcher. A Steiner school completed a tour with us this year, and were so impressed with our meals that they decided to publish some Remote Tour recipes in their school news letter.
